Vendor Watch Digest — Week of September 7–14, 2026

Prepared for CRMT Digital marketing operations. Research window: September 7–14, 2026. Research completed: September 14, 2026.

Executive Summary

It was a quiet week for the marketing-automation platforms proper (Marketo, Eloqua, and Salesforce’s two Marketing Cloud editions all show no in-window releases), but an active one for the surrounding GTM data and orchestration layer, with two cross-vendor themes standing out:

The enrichment/orchestration layer keeps consolidating into CRM-native workflows, and investors are betting big on it. Clay shipped a GA integration directly into Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) and closed a $115M Series D at a $7.1B valuation in the same week — a strong signal that data enrichment and orchestration is being treated as core GTM infrastructure rather than a point tool.

Salesforce continues folding acquired AI capability into the Agentforce brand. Piper and Hunter, the named sales agents introduced this week, are built on technology Salesforce acquired from Qualified earlier in 2026 rather than representing net-new capability, so we’ve flagged this as lower priority this cycle. Separately, Salesforce previewed a governance framework (“Trusted Enterprise AI Harness”) aimed at giving enterprises visibility and control over proliferating AI agents, directly touching the data-governance theme this digest tracks, and HubSpot’s Microsoft Ads integration is now confirmed live in production, useful for cross-channel attribution.

No new entrant vendors in the ABM or lead-management/data-orchestration space had material news in this window.

Findings by Business Impact

High Impact

1. Clay’s Pardot (Salesforce Account Engagement) integration reaches General Availability

  • Date: September 7, 2026
  • What changed: Clay’s changelog confirms its integration with Salesforce Account Engagement (formerly Pardot) is now GA, allowing enriched Clay data to be pushed directly into Pardot — creating, updating, or upserting prospects by email and managing list membership. Shipped alongside advanced cross-entity search (companies/people/jobs, with OR-filter support) in Clay’s MCP connector for Claude/ChatGPT-based prospecting workflows.
  • Why it matters: This closes a direct data-enrichment gap for any client running Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement — enrichment and list hygiene can now happen natively rather than through custom middleware, which is squarely inside our data-governance and orchestration mandate.
  • Status: Confirmed/GA.
  • Recommended action: Evaluate for clients on Account Engagement with manual or third-party enrichment processes; assess data-governance implications of enrichment writing directly into Pardot prospect records.

Medium Impact

2. Clay closes $115M Series D at $7.1B valuation

  • Date: September 9, 2026
  • What changed: Clay raised $115M in a Series D led by Wellington Management, with participation from CapitalG (Alphabet), Sequoia, and Meritech. Valuation rose $2.1B since the start of 2026. The company reports more than 17,000 customers (including Anthropic and OpenAI) and annualized revenue tracking toward $200M by quarter-end.
  • Why it matters: Signals aggressive continued investment in Clay’s product roadmap and go-to-market — clients should expect faster feature velocity but should also watch for pricing changes as the company scales toward its next funding milestone.
  • Status: Confirmed.
  • Recommended action: No immediate action; monitor for pricing or packaging changes over the next two quarters.

3. Salesforce previews “Trusted Enterprise AI Harness” governance framework

  • Date: September 10, 2026
  • What changed: Salesforce announced a six-capability architecture (Trusted Context, Agency, Action, Governance, Security, Models) plus a new “AI Control Plane” intended to give enterprises unified visibility and policy control over AI agents operating across their org. Salesforce states the unified experience begins rolling out in early fiscal FY28 (i.e., this is a preview/roadmap announcement — most underlying components are existing technology being repackaged).
  • Why it matters: Directly relevant to the data-governance theme this digest tracks, especially as agentic AI (Agentforce, Piper, Hunter) becomes more embedded in sales and marketing workflows. Worth tracking as clients evaluate agent governance policies.
  • Status: Roadmap/preview — not yet GA.
  • Recommended action: No immediate action; revisit when FY28 rollout details firm up.

4. HubSpot–Microsoft Ads integration confirmed live (General Availability)

  • Date: Reported as of September 8, 2026; confirmed live per CRMT’s own HubSpot instance product-updates list.
  • What changed: A native connection between Microsoft Ads and HubSpot for unified reporting/attribution, automatic UTM-based tracking of contact interactions and deal ROI, and auto-enrollment of ad-engaged contacts into workflows.
  • Why it matters: Directly useful for marketing ops teams running paid Microsoft/Bing campaigns who need cross-channel attribution in HubSpot.
  • Status: Confirmed/GA.
  • Recommended action: Evaluate for clients running Microsoft/Bing paid campaigns in HubSpot who currently attribute ad performance manually or via third-party tools.

5. Salesforce completes acquisition of Fin

  • Date: September 10, 2026 (deal closed; originally announced June 15, 2026)
  • What changed: Salesforce closed its acquisition of Fin, an AI customer-agent platform (76% average resolution rate across chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice, and Slack; 30,000+ customers), folding it into Salesforce AI Labs to strengthen Agentforce’s customer-service capabilities.
  • Why it matters: Primarily a customer-service play rather than a marketing-ops one, but reinforces Salesforce’s continued AI-agent acquisition strategy following the Piper/Hunter launch in the same week.
  • Status: Confirmed (deal completed).
  • Recommended action: No action needed; noted for context.

Low Impact

6. LeanData named winner, Salesforce 2027 Partner of the Year Award (Customer Value category)

  • Date: September 9, 2026
  • What changed: LeanData was recognized for its Orchestration solution and agentic-transformation work in the Salesforce ecosystem, citing a customer case study (Uber for Business: 28% increase in outreach capacity, 83% uplift in conversion rate, 23% cost reduction).
  • Why it matters: Market-credibility signal rather than a product change; no action required.
  • Status: Confirmed.
  • Recommended action: None; optional social/PR mention if relevant to shared clients.

7. HubSpot’s ChatGPT connector added to OpenAI’s Small Business Collection

  • Date: September 9, 2026
  • What changed: HubSpot’s existing ChatGPT connector (GA since June 2025) was added to OpenAI’s curated “Small Business Collection,” increasing its discoverability for SMB users pulling HubSpot CRM context (meeting prep, follow-up drafting, pipeline reviews) into ChatGPT within existing permission boundaries.
  • Why it matters: A distribution/visibility milestone rather than a new capability; worth a light touch on data-access governance awareness for SMB clients.
  • Status: Confirmed.
  • Recommended action: None; optional mention to SMB clients using HubSpot + ChatGPT workflows.

8. Salesforce relaunches Qualified-derived agents under the Agentforce brand — Piper (GA) and Hunter (pilot)

  • Date: September 11, 2026
  • What changed: Salesforce introduced named, job-specific AI agents built on a “long-horizon runtime.” Piper is an inbound pipeline-generation agent that engages and qualifies web/inbox prospects — now GA, with a cited customer (Asana) reporting 4x conversation volume after a ~45-day deployment. Hunter is an outbound agent that researches accounts and conducts extended multi-touch outreach — currently in pilot, with GA targeted for November 2026.
  • Why it’s lower priority: Per internal review, Piper and Hunter are built on technology Salesforce acquired from Qualified earlier in 2026, not net-new capability — this week’s news is a rebrand/relaunch under the Agentforce name rather than a fresh product development. Downgraded from an earlier draft that treated it as a new capability.
  • Status: Piper confirmed/GA; Hunter provisional (pilot, GA targeted November 2026 — not yet delivered).
  • Recommended action: No immediate action; note internally that Qualified-derived functionality is now branded as Agentforce Piper/Hunter for future reference.
